FOUND SERIES
The Found Series explores the intersection between humans and the coastal environment, and the way each impacts and is altered by the other in equally profound ways. The series combines my photographs of coastal areas around the world, focusing primarily on surf communities and the impact surfing has on the lives of participants, with items found washed up on the beach. Using alternative processes, the images become one with the found objects so that what is in the photograph and what is part of the object are unclear. The unknown composition of the object also means that the image may, over time, become altered, just as humans have altered the coastal landscape and the ocean leaves its mark on humans.
